  3. Russell, hello. My name is Peter Cummings - I live near Boundary Bay, BC. I have two projects that you can help with - if you like. The first one - is the FOX FEATURE FILM, THE BIG YEAR. While we finished shooting in August, we are still editing and compiling photos of birds for our opening credit sequence. We have many resources in hand - but thought it could be a good thing to see if you would be interested in providing access to your photos for use in the movie in exchange for an end credit. If okay, you will be in the end credits with renown bird photographers like Brain Small and Mike Danzenbaker. As well, you will be listed with the significant supporters of the movie like Audubon, American Bird Conservancy, American Birding Assoc and the Macaulay Lab of Ornithology.

The second project is a PSA to help protect the 565 Acre parcel of farmland in Tsawwassen BC known as The Southlands. Fox has given us a clip from the movie to use. We have interviewed a number of folks including Robert Butler - and would like to include a montage of your photos in support of the over 250 species of birds a year sighted in Boundary Bay - Canada's premier birding site.

Please let me know what you think of all this.

    Congratulations on your achievement!

    Peter Cummings

  5. Hi Russell,
You must be related to Dick Cannings. Son? My mom's a friend of his.. she took me birding with him when I was younger I remember. We went to see where the peregrines were nesting after the reintroduction project in Kelowna ten-ish years ago.
Anyway, I was just reading the alumni newsletter and popped on your blog site to see who you are! That's a fine list you've got there, good work.
